Timo Arjes, born on the 23rd of September 1982 in Kiel, Germany is studying English, Economics and Politics at the university of Flensburg since 2007 with the goal of becoming a teacher.
My courses at Flensburg University:
This term I´m joining nine classes. My english classes are mostly practical with special references to methodology and didactical backgrounds. The same goes out for politics and economics. Additionally, statistics and this is the class which freaks me out the most!
interests
sports is one thing that takes up most of my time, but I still like to hang around with my friends, to cook and talk about nearly every topic, but I like mountain biking, camping, hiking, swimming, cars, music, movies, animals, science and physics. I really like understanding how things work, anything that has numerous moving parts i just wanna figure out how it works. I think thats why I like cars, lots of moving parts, when I was in highschool my friend and I took apart an old ford van with high aspirations of making it a pimp mobile… that didn’t go as planned.
music
I’m not really good at remembering a lot of the names of the people who make the music I like, but I really enjoy a lot of r&b, jazz, hip-hop, house, some country. Blues and bluegrass i like a lot because it reminds me of growing up, and where im from. i like bob marley, incubus a lot, system of a down, snoop dogg, frank sinatra, Ray charles, and some of the poppy stuff thats on the radio. I also like a lot of jack johnson and ben harper. theres some really good christian artists like eric peters and kutlass, and i grew up around resturants and bars a lot, so the old jukeboxy stuff i like a lot too.
movies/tv
some of my favorites are a bronxs tale, gladiator, the last samuri, half baked, boondock saints, garden state, crash, billy madison, tommy boy, 13th worrior, die hard, cocktail, random stuff like that.
I don’t watch a whole lot, but I do enjoy iron chef, and iron chef america. I’m also a big fan of Grey’s Anatomy and scrubs. I used to love watching great chefs when that was on. I love In living color, family guy even though its no bueno. I like history channel and stuff, discovery,A&E, I used to watch SHARK WEEK every year on discovery channel. animal planet, I like stuff thats informational.
some questions…
What did I find out during the project?
On the one hand I found out quite a lot. The DMC students do not have the same chances, for instance mostly of the students do not have a internet access, what basically depends on the money. But on the other hand, some guys made an effort to make a communication happen and thats one thing I appreciate a lot.
What did I find most interesting?
Most interesting are the blogs and videos, posted by the students of both universities. It was interesting to discover the differences and the similarities of the blogs. In general I´d like to say, that this project should continue and it also should be improved all the time!
What was easy? What was difficult in the communication process?
It was easy to create a blog, what depends on the giving introduction. It was also easy to improve it continuously! To communicate with the students of DMC was kind of difficult, but finally it worked as planned.
What would I still like to know about the other students?
Do you guys like to visit Germany or have you ever been in Germany?
My favourite place
One of the reasons why I love the closeness of water is, because I growed up in Kiel. The fresh air, the beach and the beautiful landscape near the water is such amazing. I will show you some pictures of the beach I basically go to. Additionalley, the port of Kiel, my Hometown.

Favourite place abroad…
In 2004, I was in Miami ( Florida)- West Palm Beach, I have some American friends over there and I usually visit them as often as I can. West Palm Beach is, as the name says, near the water and thats the way I like it. In the summer time its basically up to 38 degree celsius, much hotter than we actually have in Germany. But it was really fun and I had a preety good time. Here you´ll find some pictures of West Palm Beach and the sourrounding area…
